Description
Seamstress presents a vibrant, innovative dining and drinking experience, set amonst the classical charm of 1800s' Chinatown. The building itself has a sordid history, although today it is a hub of creativity and sensory exploration.
The rickety old stairs lead upward to the intimate dining space which has an incredible warming quality, attributed to both the inviting aesthetic and the arrayof aromas coming from the kitchen. Modern Cantonese is the basis of the fare here, with subtle influences from aroudn the world, in both technique and flavour.
Above the dining room is Seamstress Cocktail Bar. Very much modelled on haunts that existed before and during prohibition, this bar takes a very classical approach to its drinks. Ice spheres are hand carved for the selection of premium spirits and juices are pressed daily for the contemporary cocktails. Table service is encouraged and the staff have an encyclopaedic knowledge of drinks and bar lore.
Below all this is the madcap SweatShop, the illegitimate love child that causes all the trouble. Again, quality drinks and the bartending craft are showcased, with cocktails stirred, shaken and thrown all about the room. The main differences being an emphasis on music, the social aspect and the cheeky service.
