City of Melbourne disability services
The City of Melbourne's publication Accessing Melbourne aims to make it easier for visitors to find their way around and use the city’s accessible services and facilities. The guide is laid out like a conventional tourist guide and is designed for people with mobility-related impairments and difficulties in negotiating the physical environment.
Travellers Aid
The City of Melbourne’s Melbourne Mobility Centre has ceased operations. All equipment hire services have been transferred to Travellers Aid, however, and remain available for hire. Accordingly, Travellers Aid have expanded their equipment hire with more manual wheelchairs and motorised scooters. These are available from their service centres at both Flinders Street and Southern Cross Stations.
Equipment can be booked directly through Travellers Aid by calling (03) 9610 2030 or online. Euipment that is pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance can also be delivered to Federation Square car park.
Car hire
Europcar, in partnership with Automobility, have wheelchair access vehicles for rent, as do Wheelaway.
