Description

DACOU Gallery Melbourne is an Aboriginal family owned art gallery. One of Australia's leading Aboriginal galleries, DACOU is the acronym for Dreaming Art Centre Of Utopia. It was founded by Utopia community member Fred Torres in 1993. Since its inception DACOU has become firmly entrenched in the Aboriginal art world and is recognised as the leading supplier of quality Utopia art.

The gallery specialises in Aboriginal art from the Irrultja community in the Utopia region, located 270 kilometres north-east of Alice Springs, and represents close family members and extended family members of Fred Torres. DACOU takes pride in being the only commercial Indigenous gallery in Australia that is working with its own family and community.
