Description
La Trobe’s Cottage is Victoria’s first Government House. Brought to Port Phillip by Superintendent (later Victoria’s first Lt. Governor) Charles Joseph La Trobe in 1839, the fascinating pre-fabricated cottage was originally located on a 12.5 acre estate across the river at Jolimont. It now lies nestled on a rise near the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Shrine. Take a tour of the cottage and learn about the life of Victoria’s first Governor.
