 New Year's Eve

New Year's EveThis New Year’s Eve, why not visit the city with family and friends? Enjoy free entertainment and two spectacular fireworks displays at the city’s fun, alcohol-free celebrations.

The Family Festival is back at Yarra Park surrounding the MCG this year, inviting families to bring a picnic, relax and enjoy the festivities. From 6pm, the main stage will showcase some of Australia’s best-loved entertainers, hosted by a celebrity MC.

Roving performers, face painting and kids activities will keep every member of your family thoroughly entertained until the spectacular family fireworks display at 9.15pm, best viewed from Yarra Park.

New Year's Eve at Yarra ParkMelbourne’s inner city parks, Birrarung Marr and Alexandra Gardens, are the ideal fireworks viewing locations, and offer plenty of entertainment in the lead-up to midnight. Roving performers will wow the crowds from 7pm, while on-stage acts kick off at 8pm.

The atmosphere will be electric by 9.30pm when, for the first time ever, some of Melbourne’s tallest buildings become canvasses for projected art, images, video and animations celebrating the unique aspects of Melbourne and highlights of 2010.

As the clock strikes midnight, the city skyline will erupt in a breathtaking fireworks display that stretches through the city to Docklands, accompanied by a unique soundtrack broadcast on 99.7FM.

Grab your friends, family and a picnic rug, and head to the city to celebrate New Year’s Eve – Melbourne-style!
