Southside

South of the CBD border is where Melbourne’s adventurous ‘Mexicans’ live –those with the forethought to capitalise on that sparkling, caramel river-way more affectionately known as The Yarra. The haciendas here come in the form of re-imagined boatsheds along previously dilapidated walkways.

Shady waterfront areas are now family-friendly and clean enough to eat from. Broad promenades make walking or biking on a sunny day or clear night the greatest delight. Steal your nerves for a magnificent fire display as riverside gas-jets shoot into the heavens. That’s what we call Southern hospitality, y’all.

Think: Southbank, South Wharf and South Yarra.

Yet another new inhabitant in the cargo sheds, Shed 5 – as conceived by Loop Creative – pitches for a more ‘lived in’ atmosphere compared to the showroom finish of its South Wharf compadres.
