Winter is a truly imaginative time to experience the city in Melbourne. The city becomes a hive of creative activity, with blockbuster events, delicious winter menus, and cutting edge style bursting from the inside out.
There’s the Australian premiere of Wicked – The Broadway Musical, the 2008 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition Art Deco 1910-1939, the celebration of Circus Oz’s 30th Birthday, and the launch of a spectacular new lighting installation in the middle of the city.
Melbourne continues its reputation as the events capital, hosting the Melbourne International Design Festival, State of Design, Melbourne International Film Festival and A Taste of Melbourne, as well as a vast array of performances, exhibitions and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Lovers of fine food and wine will know winter is the time the city’s tastebuds come alive! Throughout June, July and August, city cafes, restaurants and bars will serve mouth-watering winter delicacies, from steaming hot soups and delicious hot chocolates to curries, paellas and laksas.
