Melbourne Greeter Service

The Melbourne Greeter Service is a free 2-4 hour walking orientation of the city for visitors and tourists to Melbourne.

The Service is one of the many ways the City of Melbourne welcomes people from around the world and across the nation to Australia’s most multicultural city.

Orientations are available in English 7 days a week (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day) and depart from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square.

The Greeters are passionate, trained volunteers who share their local knowledge of Melbourne by providing free walking orientations of the city. Bookings are recommended.

The Melbourne Greeter Service offers you:

  • a free 2-4 hour orientation with a volunteer who speaks your language
  • multilingual orientations in a variety of languages
  • an insight to Melbourne from a local’s perspective
  • an opportunity to explore Melbourne City by tram, bus or on foot
  • group sizes of 1 to 4 people
